On the death of Shaima Al Awadhi
Iraqi refugees don’t come here from war-torn Iraq to run after the so-called “American Dream”. They’re here because they are forced to go somewhere; anywhere safe to survive. With Shaima’s death following Trayvon Martin last month, this country has further proven to the world that there’s no such thing as safety and security if you are a minority/person of colour. For someone to brutally beat a mother of 5 to death and leave a note saying “go back to your country, you terrorist” is really sickening and disgusting- to say the least.
