1. On the death of Shaima Al Awadhi

Iraqi refugees don’t come here from war-torn Iraq to run after the so-called “American Dream”. They’re here because they are forced to go somewhere; anywhere safe to survive. With Shaima’s death following Trayvon Martin last month, this country has further proven to the world that there’s no such thing as safety and security if you are a minority/person of colour.  For someone to brutally beat a mother of 5 to death and leave a note saying “go back to your country, you terrorist” is really sickening and disgusting- to say the least. If you haven’t heard of Shaima’s death, please read and open your eyes to the continuous attacks and injustices facing minorities in this country>  http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/mar/25/california-iraqi-mother-murder-hate-crime

A woman reacts while security forces inspect the scene of a bomb attack on Shia pilgrims, killing and wounding scores of people, police said, near the southern port city of Basra, Iraq on Saturday. It was the latest in a series of attacks during Shia religious commemorations that threaten to further increase sectarian tensions just weeks after the U.S. withdrawal.

In a country where gas is cheaper than water, 60 percent of the population not only don’t own their homes but most cannot afford to own a home.

Did I mention that I’m losing my home in Al-Ruwais Project? I’ve lived my entire life here and we didn’t drown in the rain. Shouldn’t you give us a sewage system and housing projects before you displace one of the oldest districts in Jeddah?

Greed is a terrible thing, and never underestimate Karma.
